After selling Byrd Mill baking mixes since 2005 we were sad to learn that the mill had stopped production. We began to look for a replacement from a close source and found through an enthusiastic recommendation Jill’s Baking Mixes from Hampstead, Maryland. Since beginning in her mother's own kitchen, Jill Gebhart has had one thing that sets her mixes and other goods apart from the crowd. As the company grew from a rented kitchen, to a small house and shipping to 1,200 stores nationwide, this promise of taste, freshness, and personality has made "Jill's Jams, Mixes and More" the business it is today.
The Tradition of Byrd Mill began in 1740. Young Patrick Henry visited the mill often, bringing corn, wheat and buckwheat from his father's nearby plantation. Byrd Mill continued in operation at its original site until 1968 when an untimely fire brought an end to production in the original building. Byrd Mill now located in Ashland, Virginia manufactures some of the finest gourmet mixes available while still offering many of those old tyme products.
Monastery Creamed Honey is from the monks of Holy Cross Abbey, Berryville, Virginia. Holy Cross Abbey is a monastery of the Cistercian Order of the Strict Observance (Trappists) sheltered by the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. It is a natural product made of the finest all natural honey, slowly mixed until it has light creamy texture, the consistency of butter. These refreshing spreads are great on toast, crackers, bagels, muffins, scones and other baked goods. Also try it in hot beverages such as tea or cider. Lemon and Blueberry Creamed Honey, 10 oz. Container
McCutcheon's Sparkling Apple Cider - Cider was a staple beverage at Monticello. Jefferson’s extensive orchards yielded many kinds of apples, some for eating, some for cider. When Alpenglow Sparkling Apple Cider was discontinued, we searched for a new Sparkling Apple Cider for our gift baskets and found out that there is no longer any Sparkling Apple Cider produced in Virginia. We found the closest source to be McCutcheon’s Apple Products, located in Frederick, Maryland. They have been making a wide variety of homestyle products since 1938. Their Sparkling Apple Cider is a refreshing carbonated apple cider perfect for any celebration. Pasteurized, no added sweeteners, no caffeine, and no alcohol. 750 ml
