Return Policy

PLEASE NOTE: Packages refused for any reason are not refundable! Please check with the receiver if they will accept packages at this time. We are not responsible for refused packages.

Order Cancellation

All orders placed on our site are filled and shipped within one to two business days. Additional time is needed in the peak holiday season. If you wish to cancel your order, email us as soon as possible at customerservice@thevirginiamarketplace.com. Once an order is placed with our vendors or shipped, we cannot cancel your order. If the order is for a future date and you wish to cancel it, we will do our best to cancel the order for a $10.00 processing fee ($15.00 for gift baskets) which will be deducted from your refund.
Orders received from outside the United States can not be processed and will be cancelled.


Lost, Damaged or Packages Shipped Incorrectly

REVIEW YOUR ORDER AND SHIPPING ADDRESS before placing your order. You are responsible for an order once it is submitted. We are not responsible for orders placed incorrectly. If you place a telephone order, please review your order and shipping address to make sure it was done correctly. You are responsible for reporting a problem promptly once the order is submitted. 


We email you a UPS tracking number when your package is shipped. Please follow the progress of your package and contact us immediately if an order is not received so an investigation can be started by UPS.  
 If an order is damaged or lost by UPS, you can either have us reship your order or cancel your order once it is officially declared damaged or missing by UPS after a UPS investigation. 
 
If a package is not deliverable and can be reshipped, there is a new shipping fee. If it is not possible to reship there is $10.00 ($12.00 for gift baskets) restocking fee. The shipping fee and restocking fee will be deducted from your refund.

In the unlikely event a package is shipped incorrectly by our company, we will arrange for reshipping the package to the correct address at our expense or we will arrange for you to return it and we will refund the order and return the shipping expenses. Please do not return or ship any product until you contact us and receive approval.

We are not responsible for delays in delivery once a package is with UPS.

How to Return a Purchase

Customer satisfaction is our prime motive. In the unlikely event that an item you purchased is damaged or defective, we will replace or refund your purchase if it is eligible. Please email us immediately (no later than 2 days of receipt) at customerservice@thevirginiamarketplace.com with a written explanation. Otherwise, food items and food gift baskets are not returnable.

Perishable and NonPerishable Products

If an item you have purchased from us is damaged or defective, please email us immediately (no later than within 2 days of receipt) at customerservice@thevirginiamarketplace.com with a written explanation.  Defective or damaged products must be returned in the original packaging to qualify for a refund or replacement. Please do not return any product to us without our written approval. Please keep the product and the original packaging. Please mail the item in its original packaging, the written approval and the packing slip to the address on the written approval promptly within 2 days of receipt.

Smithfield and The Peanut Shop of Williamsburg Products

If an item you have purchased from us is damaged or defective, please email us immediately (no later than within 2 days for Smithfield and The Peanut Shop of Williamsburg of receipt) at customerservice@thevirginiamarketplace.com with a written explanation. Defective or damaged products must be returned in the original packaging to qualify for a refund or replacement. Genuine Smithfield Hams and Country hams are very salty and are not appropriate for everyone's taste. No refunds or credits will be issued for the salty nature of this product. Please do not return any product to us without written approval. We will respond with a proper resolution. If you are due a credit from us, we will issue you a return promptly. You are responsible for an order once it is submitted. We are not responsible for orders placed incorrectly.
